Requirements
- Prepare accurate, timely, and commercially competitive quotations based on customer and sales requirements.
- Understand the full logistics cost structure and ensure all relevant charges, risks, and operational requirements are properly considered before quotation submission.
- Independently handle complex RFQs, Key Account enquiries, and multi-service logistics solutions.
- Vendor & Overseas Agent Management
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with:
- Shipping lines
- Airlines
- Overseas agents
- Co-loaders
- Trucking companies
- Customs brokers
- Warehousing providers
- Other logistics vendors
- Proactively source and negotiate competitive buying rates, free time, capacity, credit terms, and other commercial conditions.
- Build alternative vendor and routing options instead of relying on a single source.
- Continuously evaluate vendor competitiveness, service quality, reliability, and responsiveness.
- Commercial Support & Win Rate Improvement
- Work closely with Sales to understand:
- Target pricing
- Competitor situation
- Shipment potential
- Customer buying behavior
- Reasons for won/lost business
- Recommend appropriate pricing strategies instead of simply providing buying cost plus margin.
- Follow up on important quotations with Sales and revise pricing strategies where commercially appropriate.
- Analyze lost quotations and identify actions to improve booking conversion / win rate.
- Cost Control & Margin Protection
- Balance price competitiveness and profitability for every quotation.
- Review expected Gross Profit before quotation submission and ensure pricing complies with the company's margin and approval requirements.
- Identify potential cost risks, hidden charges, rate validity issues, and margin leakage before booking.
- Escalate quotations below target margin according to the company's approval process.
- Conduct post-booking cost reviews when actual costs differ materially from quoted costs and identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Market Intelligence
- Actively monitor:
- Ocean and air freight market movements
- Carrier and airline rate changes
- Capacity and space conditions
- Peak season / low season trends
- Fuel and other surcharges
- Overseas agent pricing
