- Position: Designated Teaching Assistant (Support 1:1)
- Reports to: Learning Support Teacher/ Class Teacher / Head TA / Head of Year
- Working hours: From 8.00AM to 5.00PM, Monday through Friday

- We are seeking a resilient, compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as an Individualised Support Teaching Assistant for a child with additional learning and behavioural support needs. In this role, you will work closely with the team and learning support teacher to provide tailored support and guidance to ensure the academic and social development of the student.
- SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS
- Teaching & Learning
- Assist teachers in developing and implementing learning activities and supervise group activities.
- Establish a constructive relationship with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
- Develop children’s language in both English and Vietnamese through role modelling, play and questioning.
- The Environment
- Create classroom environments that are safe and conducive to learning for young students.
- Clear away materials and aides after each class and ensure the overall cleanliness of the classroom.
- Helping to display children's work.
- Pastoral Care
- Positively manage students’ behaviour within the classroom and address behavioural issues appropriately, ensuring that all students are kept safe, and accidents are minimised.
- Establish positive, productive working relationships with students: Be consistent and fair; Do not show favouritism or make negative comments
- Support children when emotional and upset in an appropriate way. Excessive bodily contact with pupils, such as kissing or cuddling, is not appropriate. However, in Early Years, appropriate care may involve physically comforting a distressed child. This should only occur in an open space, in full view of colleagues and should not be more than is necessary to sooth an upset child.
- Raise self-esteem of students: Address pupils in the same way; Use positive comments; encourage independence appropriate to age and maturity.
- Assist students in handling their personal needs. This may include toileting and washing with younger pupils and help them in eating lunch or snacks.
- Support other school groups (academic, administration) with ad hoc administrative tasks such as:
- Postage and Handling (both sending and receiving).
- Printing.
- Ordering supplies.
- Liaising with parents on behalf of academic office, finance department.
- Managing school taxi card and administrative follow-ups connected to its use.
- Distributing ID cards on behalf of IT or other (to carers, to classrooms).
- Any other tasks as deemed appropriate by the Secondary Leaders
- Co-ordinate day trips with Primary and Secondary teachers:
- Act as a SPOC for any queries related to day trips
- Manage day trip requests
- Investigate options and pricing depending on the requests
- Process the trip proposals and risk assessments
- Create detailed trip cost in the BIS Hanoi template
- Liaise with external venues to complete bookings per the requests
- Process payments
- Organise transportation and/or food as required
- Provide the first point of contact to prospective parents on the general Admissions phone line, making the experience positive, straightforward, and engaging throughout.
