Overview

  • Independently deliver tutorial classes, seminars, and workshops within the framework, learning outcomes, and delivery plan set by the Module Leader.
  • Prepare for tutorial sessions in advance, engaging with lecture content, readings, and cases so that tutorials reinforce and extend the module’s learning outcomes.
  • Facilitate active-learning activities including problem-solving exercises, case discussions, group work, role plays, and peer feedback.
  • Adapt tutorial pace and approach in response to student needs, prior knowledge, and engagement, within the boundaries set by the Module Leader.
  • Provide academic guidance to students during tutorials, office hours, and consultation sessions on tutorial content, coursework preparation, and study strategies.
  • Where multiple parallel tutorial groups operate, coordinate with other Tutors to ensure consistency of delivery and student experience.
  • First-mark student assessments (formative and summative) against rubrics and marking criteria set by the Module Leader; all summative marks are subject to moderation.
  • Provide constructive, timely, and developmental feedback to students in line with institutional feedback standards.
  • Participate in marking calibration exercises and moderation meetings led by the Module Leader.
  • Contribute to invigilation of examinations and in-class assessments as required.
  • Uphold academic integrity: identify, document, and refer suspected misconduct in line with University procedures.
  • Support the preparation of assessment materials (question banks, model answers, marking schemes) under the direction of the Module Leader.
  • Prepare tutorial plans, exercises, worked examples, and supporting materials aligned to the Module Leader’s overall design.
  • Propose and, with the Module Leader’s approval, trial small-scale enhancements to tutorial activities (e.g., new digital tools, interactive techniques, peer-learning formats).
  • Maintain relevant sections of the Learning Management System (LMS) as delegated by the Module Leader.
  • Contribute to the review and refresh of tutorial materials at the end of each teaching cycle.
