  • As a Backend Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and building the systems that power our next generation of commerce solutions.
  • The role:
  • This role will build backend services that convert e-commerce transaction and settlement data into accurate billing records. You will implement financial calculations, reconciliation checks, batch processing, and ERP integrations with support from product, finance, and other engineers.
  • What you will build:
  • Settlement ingestion: Import normalized order, refund, payout, wallet movement, and fee records from files, APIs, or object storage. Validate required fields, handle duplicates, and support corrected/reissued data.
  • Billing calculation engine: Calculate per-order-item service fees, marketplace fee allocation, rebates, cost and margin adjustments, and bundle splits. Apply effective-dated contract terms and preserve the rate used for each calculation.
  • Reconciliation: Match order totals, platform payouts, wallet transactions, fees, and calculated billing amounts. Build tolerance-based checks, exception records, and clear reasons for mismatches.
  • Batch workflows: Implement settlement runs with status transitions, retries, reruns, approval gates, and safeguards against double-posting. Keep input, output, and run history traceable.
  • ERP-ready outputs: Produce validated billing and accounting data with correct signs, currency handling, tax treatment as specified by Finance, reference IDs, and versioned integration schemas. Handle delivery failures and acknowledgments.
  • Finance operations APIs: Build APIs for batch status, transaction search, exception investigation, fee mapping, manual adjustments, and invoice preview. Work with frontend engineers on operator-friendly tools.
  • Translate agreed finance rules into tested application logic; clarify ambiguous calculations with Finance and Product before release.
  • Design PostgreSQL tables, indexes, constraints, migrations, and queries for transaction-level records, batches, and audit events.
  • Implement background jobs with safe retry behavior, idempotency keys, backfills, and structured logs.
  • Write unit, integration, and data-quality tests using synthetic financial examples and edge cases such as partial refunds, missing fees, late settlements, and restatements.
  • Investigate production discrepancies using logs and audit history; fix root causes without silently altering posted financial records.
  • Document APIs, calculation assumptions, operational runbooks, and deployment changes; review code with the team.

Yêu cầu

  • 2–4 years building production backend services in Python, TypeScript/Node.js, Java, or Go; strong coding and debugging fundamentals.
  • Hands-on PostgreSQL or similar relational database: SQL, transactions, constraints, schema design, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with REST APIs, asynchronous/background processing, message queues or workflow jobs, and reliable failure handling. 1 Backend Engineer | Finance Systems.
  • Ability to use decimal-safe monetary arithmetic and write precise tests for rounding, totals, and edge cases.
  • Experience with data pipelines or file-based ingestion (CSV, JSON, API feeds), including validation, deduplication, and reprocessing.
  • Comfort working directly with non-engineering stakeholders to confirm requirements and investigate data issues.
  • E-commerce order, refund, marketplace payout, payment, ledger, or accounting integrations.
  • Reconciliation, invoice generation, billing systems, ERP interfaces, or financial data audit trails.
  • Cloud object storage, scheduled orchestration, containerized deployment, and observability tooling.
