- Develop, review, update and implement occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments for work areas, laboratories, buildings, and activities within the school. Monitor and supervise safety in laboratories, workshops, and areas containing hazardous chemicals or equipment.
- Conduct regular and unscheduled inspections to detect, monitor, and address safety hazards. Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses; identify causes and propose corrective and preventive measures.
- Monitor compliance with regulations on occupational safety and hygiene and the use of personal protective equipment.
- Manage the contractor's safety; review documentation, supervise construction, and issue work permits for high-risk tasks.
- Coordinate fire prevention and fighting management; inspect fire prevention and fighting systems and equipment, and organize regular drills.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans; participate in handling emergency situations when assigned.
- Organize training, guidance, and awareness campaigns on occupational safety and health, first aid, and fire prevention and control.
- Manage and store records and documents related to HSE work according to regulations.
- Conduct statistical analysis and prepare periodic reports on occupational safety and health and HSE indicators.
- Collaborate with wastewater and environmental staff to ensure environmental standards at VGU and compliance with regulations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
